The Hii Research group is well-equipped with a number of reaction platforms to support data-led batch and flow chemistry. Here are some of the equipment and instruments available in our group.
For up to 20 liquid or solid-phase supported organic reactions. Incorporates heating, cooling, agitation and inert atmospheres.
Foe reaction screening/substrate scope studies. Carousels for conducting up to 12-reactions in parallel. A GreenHouse Plus parallel synthesiser provides up to 24 heated reactions under inert atmosphere.
10-position reaction station with 10-30 mL working volume, 400-2000 RPM stirring and heating. A larger 6-place parallel reaction station (reaction volumes up to 250 mL) is also available.
8-position reaction station for high temperature and pressure work. Each reaction vessel can be set up with individual temperature and pressure setting.
Gilson and Jasco units.
Harvard programmable syringe pumps, and Chemyx pumps for high pressure work (up to 500 psi).
For performing catalytic reactions in packed beds.
5-position CSTR, peek and PTFE options.
Agilent 8860 GC with dual channel S/SL FID, autosampler, and H2 generator. OpenLab software.
Agilent 1100 HPLC systems equipped with DAD and Chemstation for normal and reverse-phase HPLC, including chiral separations.
UV-vis with deuterium light source for UV reflectance and in-line analytical work.
Pipetting robot for preparing reaction and sample plates.
Automated flash chromatography.
A newer version of the Combiflash.
For drying sample tubes and vials, better than rotavaps for DMF, DMSO and water...
A number of different units, to collect up to 174 samples.
